The role of an educational leader is to focus on creating a sense of passion, purpose, and pride within his/her school.  A school in turn, wants instructors who view themselves as not just teachers but leaders in and out of the classroom.  The duty of all those involved in education is to place the student at the center of learning and to create an environment in which students and staff are both encouraged to learn, reflect, grow, and achieve on their own.  This goal is reached only through ensuring a sense of belonging and motivation for each student and adult.  Creating a sense of passion and yearning for lifelong learning is not rapid nor is it often easy; it requires collaboration, developing a unified vision, dedication to that vision and establishment of a positive culture through creating a sense of community in which professional development, supervision/facilitation, and ongoing growth/improvements are embraced.  Effective schools are those in which leaders and staff members hold themselves and each other accountable for the learning and accomplishments of the students.  Effective schools/school members also empower themselves and students by constantly learning methods for improving and relating the ever-present need for adaptability in an always changing, technology-driven world while imparting enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge to the students, communities, families, and colleagues.

Throughout my career, I have prioritized building cultures where staff and students feel valued, supported, and accountable. I believe strong relationships, high expectations, and shared leadership are essential to sustaining meaningful growth and instilling a sense of motivation and engagement in every individual involved within the school community.   At the heart of my life's work is the child.  All this work should be done with the purpose  of reaching all students, turning them into individuals of immense character and impacting their lives in a way that changes who they think they are and what they can become.

It is and has always been my life’s mission to provide an education to students that affords them the opportunities to become successful, compassionate, and competent adults while also creating a climate of passion and purpose for the adults.  Through a strong focus on data-driven instruction, collaboration, positive and meaningful relationships, and continuous improvement, it is possible to make a long-term impact on the lives of children and their ability to become individuals of moral character with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful.
